What is included
Our trek package covers food, stay, guide and permit. You stay at Gurdum Backpackers Homestay at the start, and a Land Rover option is also available if you prefer to drive part of the way. Sandakphu is about 32 km from the homestay by car.
The views on the trail
From Sandakphu you can see the Sleeping Buddha ridge line, Everest and Kanchenjunga on a clear day. The trail passes through the Singalila National Park region, with forest, small villages and open ridges along the way. Tumling is about 8 km from Gurdum and Dhotrey is 19 km away.
Fixed departures for October and November 2026
Batches are planned for 16 to 21 October, 22 to 25 October, 25 to 29 October, 30 October to 2 November, 7 to 11 November and 11 to 15 November. Message Nagen on WhatsApp at +91 73190 25389 to join a batch or to ask about a custom date.
The trek is beginner friendly, so you do not need previous experience. Wear sturdy shoes, carry warm layers for the high camps and bring a rain jacket for the Singalila weather. Because the walk begins near Maneybhanjan, you can arrive at Gurdum a day early, rest after the journey from Siliguri or Darjeeling, and start the trail fresh the next morning.
Plan your stay on the homestay rates page, learn about your host, browse the gallery or get in touch.
Why start the trek from Gurdum
Starting from Gurdum means you begin the Sandakphu trail from a quiet village instead of a busy roadside, and you finish your first night with a bonfire and a home-cooked dinner. Our host Nagen Tamang knows the route well, and the trek package covers food, stay, guide and permit, so you only need to bring your own gear and a sense of adventure.
If you are not ready for the full five days, ask about shorter hikes and jeep trips from the homestay. Phalut and day hikes are also possible from our doorstep, and the Land Rover option lets you see the high ridge without walking every kilometre. Share your dates and group size on WhatsApp at +91 73190 25389 and we will suggest the best plan.
